David Delivers Change Agenda for Stormont

Meade selected to direct policymakers, legislators, and MLA’s

Strangford Lough and Lecale Partnership (SLLP) selected David as their key representative when they brought their People and LandscapeRoadshow to Stormont last week in an on-going campaign to raise the issue of valuing our heritage, amongst the public and opinion formers.

Of David’s role in the event, SLLP director Caroline Nolan said;

David created an excitement that I have not witnessed at any other event.  David’s authoritative content,  innovative engagement style and sheer professional showmanship struck just the right balance with our potentially sceptical audience which included senior politicians, academics and  business interests. His personal energy, ability to read the audience and lively interaction kept the audience alert and sharp throughout  It energised our communication programme and gave us many leads with other organisations. Behind the scenes David is a pleasure to work with and part of his success is the time that he invests in understanding  what his client wants to put across and the enthusiasm, positivity and knowledge that he brings to that task.

Meade curated research that demonstrated how getting in touch with nature and wildlife can reduce stress, and improve children’s attention span and learning ability.

“The cure for many of society’s ills is to be found in our heritage, both natural and built” says David, who lives with his family in Banbridge and is passionate about Strangford and Lecale. In the future the role of our environment in promoting well-being and health will be even more important and for that reason alone we need to conserve our fantastic landscapes and promote wildlife experiences such as  getting up close to our amazing marine life either on the shore or at the Exploris aquarium”.

The Strangford and Lecale Partnership is using feedback from the 2,000 people who attended the Roadshow that toured the area in February, those who contacted them, and input from the 20 sectoral organisations and community representatives on its stakeholder Advisory Committee to put together a vision for the area that puts heritage at the heart of its future.

People and organisations  are developing a shared vision and objectives that operate in “real time” so that there is already improved collaboration in the development of sustainable tourism, recreation and experimental renewable energy initiatives.

“The key is to integrate work across a range of organisations and make sure that they are working collaboratively and not re-inventing the wheel or pulling in opposite directions,” says Isabel Hood who chairs the SLLP Advisory Committee. “The goal is to hand over this wonderful landscape and rich heritage to the next generation, along with job opportunities and a healthy lifestyle”.

The Strangford Lough and Lecale Partnership brings the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, local councils and stakeholders together with many agencies and government Departments to work together for the good of the area and its people.

The mentalist hits the cobbles in a BBC first

Gypsy Star Doherty Threatens Meade

Pair nearly come to blows

GAIL HENDERSON, SUNDAY LIFE:: He famously bends minds but mentalist David Meade risk taking a punch to the head while filming his latest TV series.

Doherty vs Meade

Has Meade met his match?

The County Down mentalist was showcasing his mind boggling powers to My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy Doherty for his new show when the baffled former bare knuckle fighter threatened to give him a quick jab.

David had travelled to Paddy’s home with his camera crew where he astounded him with his mind bending powers.

Thankfully for David however, celebrity Big Brother winenr Paddy was only joking about getting his fists involved.

“What you didn’t see was, he told me he was going to shove my specky four-eyed head up my a*** if I tried to make an idiot out of him,” David laughed.

“Out of all the celebrities we met though, he was the one who was instantly warm and lovely.”

David and the team filmed the piece at Paddy’s home in a caravan park in Wales.

“He was so warm and gentle and offered to make us sandwiches and tea.  I think the only reason he barked a bit when the cameras were on was for his persona.”

A Smooth Launch for C&C Group plc

David leads launch of innovative new beverage product.

One of Europes toughest business sectors was given a boost recently when acclaimed speaker and personality David Meade was chosen to drive the launch of an innovative new product … and with some cunning advice from television’s favourite mentalist, academic and internationally acclaimed business motivator, the delegation of senior drinks executives were left under no illusion as to the future of the market.

Having worked closely with PR guru’s Future Image on the launch, alongside Nicola McCleery and Paul McGurk from Tennents Ni Ltd , David was charged with designing a bespoke product driven keynote presentation that would resonate with delegates, and offer meaningful business value for each of their organisations.  Following extensive research to this end, and much work with the client partners, David delivered two separate high energy sessions that focused tightly on the nature of change in the ‘on and off trade’ sectors, with reference to the changes in patterns of consumer demand and spending, and the importance of continuous innovation.

Speaking about David’s role in the event, Director of Marketing Nicola McCleery said

TNI was delighted with David’s input into the launch of Caledonia Smooth. The tailored content struck the perfect balance of business improvement all delivered in an extremely unique and engaging style.  Very entertaining, engaging host that is truly different – and David’s presence enabled us to harness a very strong media hook.  David is witty, unique, intelligent, entertaining and thought provoking.

Karen Wallace of Future Image comments

I would absolutely recommend David’s services in a heartbeat. I can’t recall having hired anyone who does anything reotely similar. He exceeded our expectations and went over and beyond his duty in preparation, to tie in with the other presenters on the day, and ensured we had a smooth event, which was greatly appreciated.  He was the hook to attracting attendees to the launch and also to educating them in an entertaining fashion throughout the evening. The night would not have ‘stood out from the norm’ without him.  He’s unique and in a class of his own. I can’t imagine how he could improve on perfection.

Caledonia Smooth is being hailed as the ‘next big thing’, but Tennent’s NI, the company behind it, ensured its launch was every bit as innovative as the product itself, recruiting mentalist, psychologist and business expert David Meade to introduce what is already the sector’s ‘talked-about brand’. He gave publicans some insider advice on how to excite consumers and ‘psych’ them into taking that first sip of something different.

Nicola McCleery from Tennent’s NI says, “As a business we’ve always been committed to innovation and that ethos has never been more valuable than in today’s challenging marketplace. The licensed trade has been buffeted by the twin effects of austere times and changing leisure patterns and we believe that, to survive and prosper, we all need to be doing things not only differently, but also better.

“Having the advice of a television mentalist is certainly a fresh approach, but, however entertaining, it wasn’t simply an attention-grabbing novelty. David’s charismatic and entertaining television personality is already well known to national tv audiences and he has earned a serious international reputation as an inspiring, motivational speaker, complementing an academic career as a university lecturer here in Northern Ireland and visiting lecturer in North America. He brought not only business acumen and vision, but also hands-on experience of bar and hotel management gained on major projects in the US. That’s a fabulous blend which sits perfectly with the all-new Caledonia Smooth . . . itself a fabulous blend!

“We were delighted to re-emphasise our ongoing investment and innovation programme with the unveiling of this amazing new product to a professional audience who clearly appreciated both its qualities and its capacity to help us all to do better business, even in times of austerity. While advice from the inside track on how we can best influence and please our customers is always welcome, we all know that nothing is as attractive to the consumer as great quality products backed up with quality, excellent service and an attractive price point.”

The launch initiated licensees in the art of pouring Caledonia Smooth correctly, focusing on the origins and qualities of the product. Taking the trade through the product paces was the creative F & B Partnership, celebrated for quirky workshops specially created for the food andbeverage sector.

Nicola McCleery says, “Innovation is at the very core of the Tennent’s NI business and we like to pack a few surprises and a fresh approach into everything we do, but the real surprise of our launch – and the undoubted star – was of course the product itself. Born of heritage, Tennent’s unique brewing skills and our customary market insight, Caledonia Smooth is an entirely new drinking experience and it is one which we feel will bring commercial benefits to our partners in the licensed trade.”

Accounting for Change – Edinburgh

David invited to deliver at Annual conference of senior finance industry executives

David at the Ulster Accountant Society

Huge excitement surrounded the announcement that David would be joining the senior delegation of Chartered Accountants for their prestigious annual conference in Edinburgh. As a keynote speaker at the event, David joined Anton Colella, Chief Executive of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and John Mason MSP, Deputy Convenor of the Scottish Parliament’s Finance Committee at an event that answered as many topical questions as it raised.

David said;

“I was hugely honoured to take such a lead role in such a valuable event. Driven by the notion that ‘rising to the challenge’ would become the essential competency of the contemporary financial sector, delegates got straight to work in establishing the key challenges facing their own practices and that of the clients they service.  My role was to lead the agenda of the event by focusing the content and driving the debate before delivering the closing keynote.  By concentrating on some recent research into the challenges of effective decision making in a tough fiscal climate, I was able to deliver some strong take home value that delegates could employ in their own organisation – while also delivering just enough fun and interaction to break cure the ‘death-by-powerpoint’ that can sometimes happen at events.  The organisers should be very proud of pulling together a really exceptional event, and one that I felt lucky to deliver at”.

Of David’s contribution at the event, PwC’s Fergal McCann said:

“As Chairman, I was delighted that you carried out your brief with absolute precision. Your innovation during the conference sessions and linking your own comments and those of our guest speakers to the conference theme “Rising to the Challenge” was truly inspirational. The after dinner presentation was exceptional. The energy in the room was beyond anything I have experienced at a conference. Your interaction and engagement with all delegates, accompanying persons, young and old was magnificent.”

At the event, leading Chartered Accountants have called for members of their profession to play a greater role in meeting the challenge of economic recovery and contributing to civic life.

Delegates at the ‘Rising to the Challenge’ Conference in Edinburgh, organised by Chartered Accountants Ulster Society and supported by Northern Bank, heard leaders of Scotland’s and Northern Ireland’s Chartered Accountancy bodies express their desire to take a stronger role as a positive force for society, both within the business arena and beyond.

The Conference also offered insights from key speakers into how best Northern Ireland can address the challenges of recovery and the development of new business opportunities. The main speakers featured at the Conference are Anton Colella, Chief Executive, ICAS; Anders Moller, Senior Analyst, Danske Bank; John Mason MSP, Deputy Convenor of the Scottish Parliament’s Finance Committee; former European Business Angel of the Year, Nelson Gray; and Alan Watts, Director of Halo, Northern Ireland’s business angel network. Renowned corporate speaker and entertainer David Meade acted as MC for the Conference.

David Meade returns for new BBC ONE series

Can you believe him?

Make Believe with David Meade

David’s back with a brand new series and a new way of making you believe he can do the impossible.

Mentalist David Meade, the man with the mind-boggling power to tell you what you’re thinking returns to BBC One Northern Ireland this Halloween and this time he pits his powers against the toughest test yet. And this time, it’s not only the studio audience and members of the public who are left bamboozled by David’s talents. Even TV personalities aren’t safe as David calls in on a host of stars including Big Brother winner Paddy Doherty, soap star Jennie McAlpine (Fizz in Coronation Street) and cricketing legend and Strictly star Darren Gough.

The new series, David Meade: Make Believe, starting on Wednesday, October 31 at 10.35pm was recorded while David was surrounded by a live studio audience in the enchanted setting of Lissanoure Castle in County Antrim – the secret location the audience were transported to.

David Meade Make Believe

There’s no place for the mentalist to hide, no camera tricks or mirrors as the audience get up close and personal with David while he attempts to make them believe he can control their minds and this time he’ll even put his money where his mouth is.

This series also lets the audience at home play along with some of David’s studio‘ experiments’ and he’ll even let us in on some of his trade secrets.

David said:

“This is the riskiest thing I’ve ever done. The audience aren’t just watching me on TV- this time I’m in the middle of a live studio audience scrutinising my every move. It was a brilliant experience recording this series as it differs a lot from the previous ones. I really enjoyed the thrill of interacting with a live studio audience – we had so much fun. As people know, it’s not a big serious TV show, it’s entertaining and when you have a studio audience you end up with loads of laughs. I’m not a psychic but can I make them believe that I’ve got super psychic powers and the ability to read their minds? Can I make them believe I’m some sort of genius? Will it all go horribly wrong if I’m really really put under pressure?

“And getting the opportunity to try out some of my ‘experiments’ with well-known TV stars makes for classic TV.  They were all great sports and I hope viewers will really enjoy seeing these stars being part of the show. Can I make them believe I’ve got the power to read minds too? Maybe I can!”

In Lissanoure Castle David attempts to make the audience believe he has the powers of a psychic in the first programme of the six-part series but can he do it when he’s under the gaze of hundreds of eyes?

And David puts his mind reading abilities to the test when he visits no nonsense Paddy Doherty. What will Paddy make of David’s mind reading abilities?

Each week David will attempt to make a different audience believe he can do the impossible. During the series the audience will include a range of different professions including doctors, teachers and sales people while David tries to make them believe he can read minds, that he’s a genius, can control minds and still be able to astonish the audience even when he’s put in stressful situations.

The six-part series, David Meade: Make Believe, starts on BBC One Northern Ireland on Wednesday, October 31 at 10.35pm.
